3 Key Reasons to Get Your Cat a Lion Cut This Summer

Getting a long-haired cat means committing to a lifelong struggle of mats, hairballs, and stains. That’s why many pet owners resort to taking their cat to the groomers to receive a lion cut. The lion cut is a grooming method in which all the fur on the cat’s body except for their head and neck is clipped close.

There are a few different versions of the cut. For example, some pet owners elect to keep some of their cat’s tail fur intact. This cut isn’t right for all cats but for some, it can help reduce hair clumps and increase their quality of life.

To decide if you want to ask a groomer about the lion cut, keep reading for a full list of benefits.

1. Easier to Maintain

As you've most likely noticed, long-haired cats need quite a bit of grooming. While they do clean themselves like any other cat, it's not enough. They have to be brushed at least once a week to deal with shedding and prevent their fur from matting up.

If you've got a jam-packed schedule, you may not have time to sit down and brush your cat. So, you may benefit from cutting down on the maintenance and getting your cat a lion cut.

2. Gets Rid of Mats

Some older cats find it hard to groom themselves because they don't have the flexibility anymore to reach too far back. Obese cats also have this problem and depressed cats pretty much neglect grooming.

Some cats are simply bad at it. This means they rely on you to brush them on a normal basis to keep hair clumps away. If you don't brush them, their fur will become matted.

If the mats are left unchecked they will pinch your cat's skin. As you can imagine, this is quite painful and can result in wounds. If it comes to that, you can take your feline in for a lion cut to get rid of their problem and give them a little relief.

3. Prevents Hairballs

When the weather gets warm out, your cat will begin to shed. During this time, your long-haired breed is at a higher risk of developing hairballs.

When they're grooming, they may end up consuming more hair than their digestive system knows what to do with. It can cause them to choke, vomit, or even experience a bowel obstruction.

Depending on how bad the obstruction is, they may have to undergo expensive surgery to fix the problem. Getting their fur clipped into a lion cut will stop the hairball issue from happening.

Consider a Lion Cut for Your Kitty

Lion cuts are a pretty popular trim because it can increase the quality of life in some long-haired kitties. It cuts back on painful matting, hairballs, and it reduces the amount of maintenance you have to do for them.

So, what are you waiting for? Book an appointment with us today to get your cat a lion cut.

Caring for a Dog: 3 Major Signs It's Time to Get Your Dog Groomed

Around 70% of Americans have a pet.

No wonder! Domesticated animals bring humans so much joy, company, and happiness. But, caring for a dog is a big responsibility that requires a lot of time and effort.

Making sure your dog is properly cared for requires more than just a quick walk and a bowl of food. This is a lifelong commitment to looking after a furry friend.

Are you properly grooming your pooch? In this article, we'll look at signs that it's time to get your dog professionally groomed. Let's get started:

1. Your Dog Is Starting to Smell

Has your pup rolled in something unpleasant on one of your daily walks? Or, maybe they are just a little stinky this month?

It's recommended that you wash your dog whenever it begins to smell. We recommend that you wash your dog every 6-8 weeks at the minimum to keep their skin and coat healthy, and shedding to a minimum. But, if you live in a small apartment and don't have a garden, this is a tricky process to complete on your own!

Our professional dog groomers have the tools required to bathe your pooch at home properly. Afterward, your furry baby will smell a lot better and cuddles can recommence.

2. Your Pooch Is Always Shedding

If you have a heavy shedding dog breed such as an Afghan Hound or Golden Retriever, you'll be used to seeing large balls of fluff floating around your home.

But, if this is happening a lot more than normal and you're seeing an increase in the fur around your home, it's time for a blowout and/or trim. Chat to your groomer about how they will resolve this shedding issue. One option is a shedless treatment which helps reduce shedding and maintains a healthy coat. It also keeps the hair shaft strong and healthy to prevent excessive hair loss.

Dogs usually shed more in spring as they get rid of their winter coats. To preempt a lot of vacuuming, take your dog to groomers as soon as the weather begins to get warmer.

3. Your Pup Has Itchy or Flakey Skin

Is your doggo always itching and scratching? This is a clear sign that it's time to speak to a professional groomer. Perhaps your pooch has fleas or is struggling with a skin condition.

A groomer will be able to advise you on products that you can use to alleviate the itch for your pooch.

The simple answer to your dog's scratching may be that it simply needs to visit the groomers more regularly to remove dead skin and fur. But, it is also a good idea to chat to your vet next time you visit so they can examine your dog's skin closely.

Caring for a Dog Takes Priority

Of course, there are many more signs that it's time to take your dog to the groomers. For example, its claws may be too long, or fur may be completely covering its eyes.

Don't wait to see a professional as an unkempt dog may be feeling uncomfortable. Caring for a dog is an expensive, lifelong job, but it's worth it for the love and company that your pooch provides you with.

4 Important Factors to Consider When Choosing a Dog Groomer

Is your dog groomed the recommended amount of every 4 to 6 weeks? During our busy schedules and strange happenings in the world, it's difficult to find the time to keep up on things like this.

Grooming is important to your dog's health and shouldn't be ignored for too long. When it comes time to pick the right dog groomer for your pup, certain qualities are vital to consider.

Keep reading to learn more so that you'll make the perfect groomer for both you and your dog!

1. Accessibility

You want to find a dog groomer who is within a close distance to you. A groomer who is too far away means you're more likely to skip out on your dog's next appointment.

The best choice is to find the kind of groomer who will come to you so that you never have to leave the home while still giving your pup the care he needs. Mobile groomers are always an excellent choice for all kinds of families with the busiest of schedules.

2. Friendliness

Although it's a good idea to socialize your dog to many different experiences, no one wants to deal with a groomer who's dour. Friendliness puts your dog at ease and makes you feel comfortable as well.

Take some extra time to go out and meet the groomers you're debating between and see which one you, but most importantly your dog, get along with the most. That's a good indication of the one who is the right choice for you and your pup.

You're going to be meeting with the groomer once every couple of weeks, so make sure everyone gets along. It makes the grooming experience a pleasant one!

3. Cleanliness

There's no reason to hand your dog over for grooming to a company that doesn't know how to keep their equipment clean. Before deciding between the different groomers available to you, don't forget to check out their facilities.

Ask for a tour of the place and make the judgment for yourself as to whether or not they are clean and organized. Even a glance is often enough to tell the difference between a well-kept grooming station to one that is the opposite.

4. Pricing

If the price of a session is too good to be true, then it's best to look for other options. Getting a good deal is always nice, but sometimes cheap is not always worth the risk.

Choosing a dog groomer is all about balance. You want to find the right price without sacrificing quality. Since grooming is so important to your dog's health, it's a good idea to splurge a little to make sure your pet is getting the best care possible!

Use Your Instincts to Pick the Perfect Groomer

Even with all of these qualities laid out before you, sometimes you've got to rely on your instincts to make the decision. If you feel comfortable and your dog feels comfortable, then that's a great groomer match.

Now that you know what to look for in a dog groomer, look around at all of your available options so that you don't miss out on a hidden gem.

We'd love to be your next groomer so feel free to contact us at any time to make an appointment!

Mobile Grooming: 5 Huge Benefits of Using a Mobile Pet Groomer

Nearly 67% of American households, or around 85 million families, have at least one pet.

A major part of looking after our furry friends is ensuring they’re well-groomed. Not only does grooming maintain a good appearance but it’s crucial for your pet’s health and wellbeing.

Mobile grooming is the key to having a brilliant and care-free service. Read on to discover the five biggest benefits.

1. Convenience

One of the top mobile grooming benefits is convenience. You don’t have to transport your pet, drive to the groomer’s facility, and back again.

Luckily, the groomer will come to you to make your life easier. Plus, many mobile groomers offer alternative time-slots to align with your schedule.

2. Less Stress for Your Pet

"Why hire a mobile pet groomer?" You ask.

Pet grooming at home prevents your pet from getting anxious when you leave them at the groomer’s or on the ride there. Also, most pets don’t want to stay in their cages or crates when waiting for their appointment.

Keeping your pet's anxiety and stress levels to a minimum are extremely beneficial for elderly pets, or those with moderate to severe health conditions. For those with pets who are extra sensitive to car rides and travel, traveling to a salon may not be the best option. Instead, hire a mobile pet groomer so your furry friend can look and feel their best while being comfortable and happy at home.

Plus, when your pet is fully relaxed, they’ll be able to immerse themselves in the experience.

3. Valuable One-On-One Time

One of the top benefits of a mobile pet groomer is how you and your pet get one-on-one treatment.

In a traditional pet salon, groomers typically can not provide as much one on one time with each pet as their owners would prefer. Due to high business demand and overlapping schedules, your pet may not receive that extra personal time many owners hope for their pet. With a mobile groomer, the focus is on one pet, and one owner at a time.

4. Shorter Grooming Time

Less grooming time is one of the major advantages of mobile pet grooming especially if your pet can’t sit still for too long.

It also means you don’t need to hang around for hours at a grooming salon, waiting for other animals to finish their appointments.

Further, many grooming salons use cage-drying to save time but problems can arise if the equipment is faulty or your pet suffers from overheating.

But when you choose a mobile grooming service, your pet can dry naturally and in the comfort of their home.

5. No Other Pets

Many pets feel nervous around animals they’re unfamiliar with. But, with mobile grooming, your pet doesn’t have to face a roomful of animals.

Further, your pet won’t be exposed to illnesses other dogs or cats have. This often occurs unintentionally just by being in the same environment as other dogs or cats. With mobile grooming, you’ll feel assured knowing your pet won’t come home covered in fleas, ticks, or other hazards.

That's Why You Should Choose Mobile Grooming Services

There are many advantages to using a mobile grooming service.

Not only do you reduce your pet’s stress by cutting the journey, but they’re also not surrounded by other animals that could be carrying diseases.

Further, mobile grooming services guarantee your pup receives undivided attention so they receive the care they deserve.
