Did you know that, according to the American Kennel Club, Hemp oil has provided anecdotal evidence for easing symptoms of seizures and anxiety in dogs?

An unfortunate fact of life is our pets' propensity to feeling ill or dealing with health issues, just the same as their human companions.

If your poor pet is struggling with some of the common ailments of pets like painful joints, anxiety, or even an inflammatory condition or two, you'll be delighted to know that there's now hemp oil for pets available on the market.

Keep on reading for our full breakdown of the top eight benefits that hemp oil for pets can bring to the pet bowl, as well as the overall betterment of your pet's quality of life.

1. The Benefits of Hemp Oil for Pets 101: The Analgesic Properties

There's no denying the fact that adding hemp oil to your pet's diet can significantly cut down their pain levels, especially if they're dealing with joint issues.

This study shows that 4 mg/kg of hemp oil a day for dogs can severely decrease their pain and increase their activity levels. This experiment was conducted with dogs that are suffering from osteoarthritis.

Moreover, as cannabidiols target pain receptors, it makes it a well-rounded option for treating any problem that's causing your pet pain. For example, if you have a dog that's dealing with pain due to surgery scars, hard stool, or painful joints, the hemp oil will ease the pain level for all of those issues.

2. Reduction in Overall Inflammation

Interconnected with hemp oil's analgesic properties is the ability to reduce inflammation in your pet's body.

The reason behind the inflammatory reactions in pets can be seen as a symptom of their immune system fighting against real (or perceived) threats. However, the problem with inflammation is the fact that it tends to worsen the underlying problem instead of easing the pain and fixing the problem.

Furthermore, in most cases of inflammation, your pet's body will release inflammatory cytokines that can become chronic in nature, especially when it comes to older dogs and cats. The result of chronic inflammation can lead to joint pain as well as a host of mobility issues.

Thankfully, one of the great perks of hemp oil is its ability to realign inflammatory agents in the body. This way, your pet's immunity system will remain uncompromised, yet the health drawbacks of inflammation will severely decrease.

3. Aides With Seizure Treatments

As we've previously mentioned, one of the great benefits of hemp oil is its concrete ability to reduce, and in some cases, stop seizures from occurring in the first place.

Admittedly, most of these studies have been conducted with humans, specifically children, with 84% showing a reduction in their seizures after taking hemp oil. Yet, epilepsy doesn't have a monopoly on humans, you'll find that around 5% of pets suffer from seizures in one form or another.

Hemp oil can be a gentle supplementary treatment for your pets. Just make sure you're checking in with your pet's vet before using hemp oil as the primary treatment.

4. Decreasing Anxiety

Poor Fido might simply be scared of thunderstorms. Yet, if he's also scared and anxious from almost everything else in his life, like going to the vet, getting a lovely doggo haircut, then it's probably time to speak to the vet about your pet's anxious behavior.

Your vet might prescribe you a heavy-duty anxiety medication. However, it might be a simpler option to give hemp oil a try with your pet. You'll be surprised at its effectiveness at easing your pet's anxiety levels, as well as how quickly it works in your pet's body.

5. Helps With Nausea and Appetite Issues

The sad fact is the older our pets get, the more difficult it can be to maintain their weight and keep it in the healthy bracket for their species and age. Generally, older pets need less food, but the main issue stems from their decreased appetite.

One of the perks of hemp oil is boosting your pet's appetite.

Moreover, if you have a younger pet, but they're dealing with nausea as a side-effect of a medication that they're taking, hemp oil can also aid with feelings of nausea.

6. Protects the Nervous System

As your pet grows older, they have to deal with cell atrophy, especially when it comes to their nervous system.

In the simplest of terms, since our pets have a much shorter lifespan than our own, you'll start noticing things like personality changes as your pet grows older.

With hemp oil added to your pet's diet, you'll be helping in the process of slowing down that decline. That's due to the strong antioxidants that are available in hemp oil, which can prevent free radicals and other toxins from speeding up cell atrophy.

7. Hemp Oil for Cardiovascular Health

Adding to its cool benefits for your pet's nervous system, hemp oil can also help improve your pet's cardiovascular health.

Hemp oil is shown to help with lowering your pet's blood pressure, as well as slow down their rapid heart rates. Besides, when it comes to your elderly pets, you'll want to be proactive about their heart health and add hemp oil as a preventative measure, which can be a smart way to decrease risk factors as your pet grows older.

After all, once your pet has a cardiovascular issue, there's no avoiding dealing with the health repercussions.

8. Digestive Health on Call

Any pet owner knows that there's no stopping your beloved furry friend from eating things that are bad for them. Digestive tract issues are a part-and-parcel of being a pet owner.

Thankfully, hemp oil comes with a solid dose of chlorophyll that can help with balancing your pet's digestion, while treating any stomachaches at the same time.

Also, hemp oil is rather effective at treating pesky problems like Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
