Dog Sanitary Trim

Less for aesthetics and more for cleanliness, sanitary trims are an important part of keeping your pup happy and healthy!

What is a Sanitary Trim?

A sanitary trim is shaving of the area around a dogs anus, and the belly area around their genitals. It can also include the inner thighs if this is a problematic area for your dog. If this fur is left long, urine and feces tend to get caught and can harbor bacteria, emit a stinky smell and leave an unsightly appearance on your pup’s bum. Shaving this area can also be helpful in preventing mats that can be painful and restrict the ability to go potty easily.

How Much Does This Cost?

A sanitary trim is $30 and includes a nail trim. We can tailor the trim to your preference, raking as much or as little from the inner thighs and around the anus. This service takes around 15 minutes and is sure to make your pup comfortable and happy!

How Often Should We Schedule?

We recommend getting your dog a sanitary trim every 4-6 weeks. This depends on their potty tendencies (and how dirty they get from it), how fast their hair grows and their self grooming skills. You can have this done with every haircut you get your dog, but don’t hesitate to book a trim in between the full grooms if you notice they’re getting shaggy in this area!

Interested in getting your dog a sanitary trim or have any questions? Book online today, or give us a call. We would love to hear from you!
